Abi Left, of the Left Paw Cat Rescue Centre in Birmingham, said she contacted the owner, who happily handed over the pet after a backlash. She said the seller told her she “did not see what was wrong” with the sale. The three-year-old male is now being looked after by foster carers.
Abi said the cat was scared when collected, and continued to hide from his foster parents.
She added: “At least he’s safe and hasn’t accidentally ended up in the wrong hands.”
Vinted insisted: “We absolutely do not condone this type of behaviour.”
A spokesman said the listing was removed on Wednesday “as soon as they became aware of it”.Each year in the UK, tens of thousands of cats are abandoned or surrendered.
